Peer-to-peer car sharing market leader shows momentum with new growth

SAN FRANCISCO— April 17, 2012 — Leading peer-to-peer carsharing company Getaround today announced it has moved offices to accommodate its growing team and increased demand for its services across the country. Getaround is proud to maintain headquarters in San Francisco, in its new office located in the booming South of Market area. This move follows recent city rollouts in Austin, TX and Portland, OR, and recent recognition from Frost & Sullivan as the leader in the peer-to-peer carsharing space.

Following its 2011 grand prize win at TechCrunch Disrupt, Getaround has continued to see dramatic growth and has officially launched in four cities - San Francisco, CA, San Diego, CA, Portland, OR and Austin, TX. In this same time, the company has more than quadrupled its staff, bringing the total full-time employee count to 30, with plans to hire five additional employees in the near term. More local jobs will be added as the company continues its expansion. Other recent milestones include:

    - Raising $3.4 Million in seed funding- Receiving landmark $1.7 Million Federal Grant- More than 10,000 car listings nationwide

"Our rapid and consistent growth, which drove the need to move offices, is a testament to the increasing adoption of the peer-to-peer model of carsharing and the hard work and dedication our team has put in over the past year," said Sam Zaid, CEO of Getaround. "Our team has done a great job honing in on what works and what doesn't. Market by market launches are imminent in the next year, but as always, Getaround strives to ensure a near perfect experience as we roll out into new cities."

The new Getaround office boasts huge open spaces, high ceilings, gym area and a roof deck. The space is designed to foster an open work environment, while promoting creativity and collaboration, including Idea Paint on several surfaces-turning walls into white boards. To help handle the increasing data needs, Getaround has invested in San Francisco-based Meraki Routers. Additional features include iPhone-enabled door locks by Lockitron and Steelcase Air Touch desks which easily convert from sitting to standing position and meet top environmental standards. Also decked out with a full kitchen, the new offices promote a community-oriented working space with catered lunches and a constant supply of healthy drinks and snacks.
