Trenton, New Jersey, is the Mercer County seat and state capital. It has about 84,000 residents and is part of the Greater New York City Combined Statistical Area. Its beginning has been documented as far back as 1719 when a constable was noted as being appointed. It borders the Philadelphia metropolitan area and is the state's tenth-largest municipality.
